Wasn't as impressed with this one as I was the last two. Felt a bit rushed, and the portrayal of the Doctor slacked a bit.

I agree with Danny on the rushed aspect, but I think the portrayal of the Doctor was fine. The story had a few interesting little points as well, so although not a strong as previous episodes, still strong enough to get "very good" from me.

Honestly, having watched the episode three times now, I can say that the script felt like it was written for RTD's era and then "dusted up" a bit for the new Doctor and companion. It just wasn't "dusted up" enough. Amy was portrayed as more of a stereotypical RTD companion and the Doctor just wasn't used to his full potential. Would have probably been a stronger episode in RTD's era. Disappointing after what we've gotten so far of this new era.

What it seemed like to me was an old series style serial that was compressed to fill the 45 minutes. I also thought the new Daleks looked kind of silly. I mean, I guess the Daleks have always looked silly but they've always managed to be menacing enough. But these ones are really pushing it. I thought they were going to go for more classic-series looking daleks considering the whole progenitor thing. Like maybe Genesis-looking grey ones. Or the silver-with-blue-bumps ones.
They really just remind me of the Daleks from the "Dr. Who" movies.
But overall I thought the episode was good enough.

Wasn't as strong as I had hoped for, but still pretty decent overall. I actually really like the new Daleks. like Sukid, they remind me a *lot* of the movie Daleks, with the enormous bases and bulky design. But I'm fond of the movie Daleks, so that explains it.

Just realized I haven't actually commented on the new Daleks (in this thread).
I actually liked them. I think the single biggest change is the removal of a certain sense of familiarity with the Daleks. They're bigger, and they're characterized more menacingly. And something in the way they move makes them look scarier, at least to me.
Found this review online the other day. Don't agree with all of it, but some good points and a perspective worth reading.
