Another great one. I think the show is safe as long as ratings hold.

As a regular episode, this was fantastic as well. The story was rather dark, and I think it gave us a more clear idea of who incarnation of the Doctor is, he is definitely a refreshing change to what we've had for the past few years, that's for sure.
My one criticism however would be the music, which did end up being a bit bombastic at various points. With that in mind, although I voted fantastic before, I think my general reckoning is that the episode should get a "great" vote.Overall though, still very strong.

i liked the music, sounded more blade runner than star wars which was a nice change

I immensely enjoyed it except for the ending. You'd think the star whale would be a bit pissed off about the whole being tortured for years thing. I dunno, maybe once it drops the colony off on a habitable planet it'll take a huge shit on them and call it even.
BUT the ending didn't ruin it for me. It was a great episode up to that point, tight writing and pretty chilling.

There were some really good concepts in this episode, and I think that was its biggest strength. The idea of the voting system of a society that hinges on "forgetting" how the government is operating. The star whale was just peripheral to me. Moffat needed something big and bad and "evil" to make his point. And for that I think the episode was handled very well.

Yeah, that was pretty sinister and well done.
In hindsight, I think I was a bit too hard on the ending. If the Star Whale was fully aware of the majority of the people on its back not KNOWING about it, even voting to forget it because they couldn't handle it, then I guess it wouldn't want to abandon them to die in space no matter how much pain it's been put through. Hell, it was probably just happy they wised up and stopped. But yeah, the star whale really was just peripheral. But one thing I liked was that there really was no "evil" involved at all. Yes, what was done to the star whale was horrible, but nobody was happy or even just okay with it. It's not that nobody in charge gave a shit about the creature as much as they simply didn't know it volunteered and felt they had to do what they did to survive.
