This was and absolutely fantastic episode, with the right balance of action and character development... now, time for me to be a giddy fan boy ... THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! BEST DOCTOR WHO EPISODE IN YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS!!! Seriously, since Saturday night, I've watched the episode a further 3 times after the first viewing. It has not got boring, the episode just completely sucks you in.
Amy is such an interesting character, cooky and zany, but definitely smart and beautiful. Despite the Doctors regeneration, this episode still managed to be about her in a big way.
Which brings me onto Matt Smith as the Doctor. Again, like Amy, he's cooky and zany. Completely mad as a hatter, and at times, very childish... this is exactly who the Doctor is supposed to be. The final scene within the Tardis, when the Doctor gave the remark "I am DEFINITELY a mad man in a box" really reminded me of the 2nd and 4th Doctors (and oddly enough, the way the line was delivered, a bit of the 1st Doctor as well). I am so pleased to see that he isn't just a David Tennant clone. In fact, he more reminded me of the first 5 Doctors than anything else, and I immediately accepted him as the Doctor.
Now, the music. Murray Gold's incidental music was absolutely brilliant. It wasn't bombastic, so I could hear everything that was going on. The music was also very fitting to what was going on in the episode.
And most importantly, where music goes, the theme tune and titles.
Before watching the episode, I was curious to see whether we would get an electronic based theme, or an orchestral based theme. I was so pleased when I heard the theme, as it was a completely new interpretation of the theme (bar for certain elements that have always appeared in Murray's themes), I was pleased with the electronic arrangement, and the orchestral arrangement merely backing up the predominantly electronic theme. I was also pleased that he didn't use any elements for Derbyshires original. I wanted something fresh and original, and that is what we got in my opinion.
The titles were certainly really cool, my only problem is that the Tardis looks a bit too much like CGI. But apart from that, I loved how the titles were presented. All in all, this episode really reminded me of the classic series. But it was way more elegant and artistic. Nice camera angles, great acting, fantastic writing, impressive CGI and effects... a fantastic series opener, and a great debut for the 11th Doctor.
I give this episode a 9/10, even though the episode was brilliant, I don't wish to rate it too high, in case we end up with an even better episode. But good show Steven, good show. Rest assured, I am satisfied with the direction you're taking the show (I mean, hell, I WATCHED THE EPISODE 4 TIMES SINCE SATURDAY... and maybe a 5th time by the end of tonight, it just sucks me in every time). So, what did everyone else think?

I've watched this episode ten times so far, and the only reason I haven't watched it more is because I've had other things to do.
